Plot
Acting was on point. The fact that Arabella was only 7 years old and acting her ass off was impressive as hell. Enjoyed the plot, very solid. Wish they would've sprinkled a little bit more breadcrumbs to build on the sentimental aspects of the characters. My favorite part though? Two words: JESSICA CHASTAIN. Wheeew.
Cinematography
TBH I was shocked at how well this was shot. The different camera angles, the great use of shading and shadowing to run up your heart rate. And the CGI?? Nah, that was fantastic.
Sound
This is horror, so they always knock this out of the park. No notes.
My Take
This movie was solid, don't get me wrong, but it's basically the live-action version of Coraline, except Coraline did it better. Overall though, acting was top tier and for a horror movie I thought the plot was well done. Some creative choices I would've tweaked, but a good movie nonetheless. Not sure how it's getting as much hate as it is; it was a fun time and creepy AF, which I love.
