Not just a movie. A poem brought to the big screen.

Plot

Man, this is a deep dive into generational family trauma through a father and son, told through magical realism that ties into the symbolism of fight or flight. The plot was a mix of melancholy with the right touch of hope — a great take on trauma without necessarily feeling purely traumatic.

Cinematography

Shot phenomenally. The deliberate center-framing of the characters, the camera angles framed toward the sky to mirror flight, and that grainy film texture giving it a subtle noir vibe — excellent choices across the board.

Sound

Very strong here as well, especially that piano score weaving throughout the film. Really pulls on the heartstrings.

My Take

This wasn't just a movie — it felt like pure cinema. It felt like a poem brought to the big screen. Definitely not something to just throw on for casual fun, but a film that forces you to reflect on complex family dynamics, how heavy circumstances shape you, and the realities of being Black in America. I can completely see why people love this movie; it definitely made an impact.
