The back half was a blast, but that rough first half drags it down.

Plot
The first half felt rushed and really didn't make you care about or fall in love with the main characters. If you didn't already know the IP, that opening stretch would've fallen completely flat. But the second half was ten times better, especially the final ten minutes which completely flipped the tone. I get it's based on a game so they tried to cram in every single character, but we didn't need everyone — most of them added zero substance to the story. Also, it was way too homoerotic in the first half just for the sake of it; felt like immature, forced teenage boy humor. When it hit it was funny, but when it missed it felt pretty cringey.
Cinematography
Visuals were great, and the fight choreography was straight up on point. Honestly, I wish there was even more action because the combat was that good — every fight sequence brought its own distinct style. The color grading was bright, saturated, and bold; felt authentically like the video game. Nailed it.
Sound
Easily the best part of the movie. Whether it was the punchy sound design in the brawls or the soundtrack, which was phenomenal with zero misses — every song they queued up had me vibing.
My Take
Caveat here: I was never a massive Street Fighter fan, so I'm coming at this completely unbiased. If you love the lore and the franchise, you'll have fun with it. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either — honestly had the potential to be an 8+ movie if they tightened up the script. The back half was a blast with much better writing and pacing, but that rough first half drags it down. If you're not already invested in the games, you might want to sit this one out.
